Plinth Theory
These Terms & Conditions outline the agreement between Plinth Theory and our clients.
By submitting an enquiry, receiving a quote, or confirming a booking, you agree to the following terms.
1. Definitions
Hirer: Plinth Theory
Client: The individual or entity hiring items
Items: All hire pieces supplied by Plinth Theory, including plinths, backdrops, and accessories
2. Agreement
By submitting an enquiry, receiving a quote, or proceeding with a booking, the Client acknowledges and agrees to these Terms & Conditions. All items remain the property of Plinth Theory at all times. A quote or enquiry does not guarantee availability or reserve items. Items are only secured once a booking has been confirmed and any required payment has been received.
3. Bookings & Payment
A deposit will be required to secure your booking. The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to the event date, as outlined on your invoice. Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been received and availability has been secured.
4. Bond
A refundable bond is required for all hires and is held as security for the duration of the hire period. The bond is released once all items are returned in their original condition, allowing for fair wear and tear. Bond amounts vary depending on hire items and booking size and are generally a minimum of $150 or a percentage of the total hire value. Any damage, loss, late returns, or additional cleaning or replacement costs may be deducted from the bond or invoiced separately if costs exceed the bond amount.
5. Hire Period
The standard hire period is 24–48 hours unless otherwise agreed in writing. The hire period begins at the time the items are delivered or collected and ends when they are returned or collected by Plinth Theory. Extended hire periods may be arranged in advance and are subject to availability. Items must be returned on the agreed return date and time. Late returns may incur additional fees and may impact other confirmed bookings. Plinth Theory reserves the right to request valid identification prior to confirming or releasing a booking. Failure to provide appropriate identification when requested may result in Plinth Theory refusing or cancelling the booking, and any deposit paid may be forfeited and is non-refundable.
6. Delivery & Collection
We offer both delivery and collection across Sydney. Delivery fees are based on location, access requirements, and order size. Clients must provide their suburb when enquiring so suitability and logistics can be confirmed. Plinth Theory is based in Edmondson Park, NSW.
7. Setup Assistance
All items are supplied on a dry hire basis unless otherwise agreed. Select items (such as backdrops or large-scale installations) may require setup assistance. Where required, this will be confirmed prior to booking and may incur additional fees.
8. Changes & Cancellations
We understand plans may change and will always aim to accommodate adjustments where possible, subject to availability. All cancellations must be made in writing.
Cancellations made well in advance may be eligible for a partial refund, excluding the deposit (if applicable)
Cancellations made closer to the event date may result in forfeiture of payments already made
Cancellations within short notice periods may not be refundable
Specific terms will be confirmed at the time of booking.
9. Damages & Loss
All items remain the property of Plinth Theory at all times. The Client is responsible for all items during the hire period. Any loss, theft, breakage, staining, or damage will be charged at repair or replacement value. If items are not returned, the full replacement cost will be invoiced.
10. Cleaning & Use
Items must not be cleaned, altered, or modified in any way. Items must be used solely for their intended decorative purpose and handled with care. Any damage resulting from misuse will be charged accordingly. Dry cleaning is included in the hire cost. However, any excessive stains that require additional or specialised cleaning will incur extra dry cleaning charges, which will be invoiced to the Client. Any wear and tear that requires repair, including tailoring or structural fixing, will be the responsibility of the Client and charged at repair cost.
11. Late Returns
Late returns may incur a daily fee calculated as a percentage of the hire cost. Late returns may also impact other confirmed bookings and availability, and will be charged accordingly. Fees may be deducted from the bond or invoiced separately.
12. Photography & Marketing
By hiring from Plinth Theory, you consent to photographs of styled setups and hired items being used for marketing, portfolio, and promotional purposes. If you do not wish for your event to be featured, you must notify us in writing prior to collection or delivery.
13. Liability & Responsibility
Once items are collected or delivered, the Client assumes full responsibility for their care until returned. Plinth Theory is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from the use or handling of hired items during the hire period.
14. General Conditions
Hire rates apply to items only unless otherwise agreed in writing. Any additional services, including setup assistance or delivery requirements, will be outlined prior to booking confirmation.
15. Acceptance
By proceeding with an enquiry, quote, or booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
